Benjamin was born in the community of San Juan La Laguna in 1996. Ever since he was young child he has been interested in nature and birds.

He began serious birdwatching in 2015 with the Audubon Society’s Basic Birdwatching Guide Course. Now he can share his passion with you and is participating in citizen-science initiatives like reporting his birding observations through eBird.org.

He particularly enjoys sharing this enthusiasm with other birders and nature lovers. His specialty is identifying Flycatchers and Shorebirds since these can be extremely challenging and he likes the intellectual challenge.

His favorite specie is the Belted Flycatcher (Xenotriccus Callizonus) because he remembers it from conducting his first monitoring in the Lake Atitlan watershed.

"We made this morning a special bird tour with our guide Benjamin Hernandez near San Juan in Guatemala. It was delightfull. Benjamin has a very good knowledge of birds. He recognizes it very fast, event if quickly behind a tree ! He knows also very well the songs and the biotope of each birds, so he exactly knew when we had to stop and what we had to see. For all this reasons i really recommand Benjamin as a very good bird watcher and guide.”
