Everilda was born in 1984 on the Los Tarrales farm (one of the birding sites).
She grew up exploring the coffee and ornamental plant fields of the farm. Since she can remember she has always been interested in learning about nature, especially about the trees and birds. In 2005, Everilda received an opportunity to learn to identify birds with her cousin Josue de Leon, when the tour company Cayaya Birding started a bird monitoring program. The following year she began to learn and eventually became a specialized Birding Guide.
Since 2008, she has been the group leader for Christmas Bird Counts at Finca Los Tarrales y later in the Bay of Lake Atitlan.
In 2015, collaborating with Asociacion Vivamos Mejor in bird monitoring in different areas of Lake Atitlan, allowed her to increase her knowledge of the different ecosystems of the region.
Her favorite bird is the Long-tailed Manakin because she had the opportunity to monitor them for several months in their habitat.
