Isaías was born in Santa Cruz La Laguna in 1994. Since he was a child he has always enjoyed exploring nature. He graduated from the Tourism & Hotel Administration program with a degree in Ecotourism. He began bird watching at the age of 17 with his brother Pedro, who has been his mentor.
The first bird he ever identified was the American Coot, and from that point he has traveled all over Guatemala sharing the most beautiful and interesting sites of his home country.
Always with binoculars in hand and his trusty Howell & Webb guide book and eBird App, he is always ready to share information with birders from all over the world.
Since 2013, when he received his General Tourism Guide accreditation, Isaias has worked with various national tour operators like Voltan Adventures, Via Venture, and Martsam Travel.
In 2015 & 2016, he had the opportunity to participate in the birdwatching training programs sponsored by the Audubon Society. He has surpassed his goals year after year and feels very happy and grateful to be able to share the emblematic birds of his region and country with everyone who wants to see them.
His favorite birdwatching sites are Santa Cruz La Laguna, Tepepul & Los Tarrales, for their species diversity and variety of habitat.
